Octopus, Common (Octopus vulgaris)
The common octopus has a wide variety of techniques that it can use to protect itself from predators and hide itself from prey. It is widely regarded as one of the most intelligent invertebrates; some evidence for this is seen in the way they hide and protect their homes using shells and stones.
Fun Facts...
The common octopus can change its colour to better blend in with its surroundings and so hide from predators. If it is found by a predator, the octopus can release a cloud of black ink to hinder the predator's view, giving the octopus time to flee.
