ALL AT SEA DURING LOVE OCEANS WEEK
Release Date: Monday 10 March 2014
The first ever ‘Love Oceans’ week is being held at SeaQuarium Rhyl from Monday, 17th to Sunday 23rd March 2014. Its aim is to raise awareness of a crisis happening in our oceans and to raise vital funds for the Marine Conservation Society.
The staff at SeaQuarium are well versed in making sure that the water provided for their aquatic residents is ideal. In the wild it is a very different story with pollution and overfishing damaging what is often taken for granted.
During ‘Love Oceans’ week visitors will be able to celebrate all that is good about the deep blue and to find out how they can make a difference.
Zoe Kelly, Displays Manager said, “This week is the prefect opportunity to meet one of our South African Fur seals and take part in training sessions at 1pm or 3pm daily. You will be able to meet a seal and carry out some behaviour training with them. You can also have your photograph taken with one of our South African Fur Seals as a memento of your day. There will be plenty of opportunities to talk to the keepers and learn more about behind the scenes with these fascinating animals. For this week only all VIP’s experiences are half price at just £15 and all money will be donated to the marine conservation society”.
The Marine Conservation Societies vision is for seas rich in wildlife, abundant fish stocks and pollution free beaches and bathing waters - seas that are fit for wildlife to thrive in and people to enjoy, and seas that will support future generations with abundant resources. MCS champions the need for marine wildlife protection, sustainable fisheries and clean seas and beaches. Throughout the week we will be fundraising for the Marine Conservation Society, the UK charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. Find out more about the Marine Conservation Society here: www.mcsuk.orgZoe Kelly added “Love Oceans week is also your chance to learn more about the different marine habitats from the British coastline to Tropical Seas and get a glimpse of the different species that live in our seas”.
