ACCESSIBILITY & SAFETY…


SeaQuarium is a seafront located site that combines a walk-through SeaQuarium, café and gift shop with daily live shows, talks and presentations.

“Our aim is to provide a safe, entertaining and memorable day out for all of our guests”

All staff are trained in disability awareness, which is included in the Handbook of Employment and provided to all new starters during their induction programme.

The café is accessible by wheelchair users. Menus and other café information are not currently available in either Braille or on tape.

Gift shop and can be accessed fully by wheelchair users. Help will be willingly given to reach goods on higher shelves in all outlets.

All doors are usually left open unless it is very poor weather, and full staff assistance is offered to all guests who may require it.

Guest toilet facilities have baby changing facilities and have wheelchair accessible unisex toilet provisions. No RADAR key is needed.


Accessibility and safety around the Site...



ACCESS...
Guests arriving in their own vehicle can park in the adjacent council pay and display car park, or anywhere else in the town and walk in. The reception desk has an accessible counter for wheelchair users.

The site is accessible to prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. It is a mixture of surfaces including tarmac, wood and concrete. Steps edges are highlighted throughout the site.

Please note that for safety reasons bikes, scooters and other wheeled transport are not allowed in the building. (Prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters are accepted).

RE-ADMISSION ...

Come and go as you please – your ticket covers all facilities all day, just collect a hand stamp for re-entry (Food and gifts bought in the outlets are not included).

CAR PARKING...

Guests arriving in their own vehicle can park in the adjacent council pay and display car park, or anywhere else in the town and walk in. Dedicated parking spaces for blue badge holders can be found in the council car park.

DOGS...

We regret that animals other than service dogs are not allowed inside the building. Service dogs are allowed access to all guest areas.

The SeaQuarium includes a range of walk through areas including Out of the Blue, Beach Zone, British Coasts, Tropical Reef Zone, Rocky Coasts and Sandy Shores, Ship Wreck Zone, Seahorse Family Nursery, Rockpools, Deep Ocean Zone, Harbour Seals, and Seal Cove.

These areas include animal talks, encounters and shows, and the SeaQuarium also includes amusement games, gift shop and cafe.

There are set times for feeding displays, talks, shows and encounters, which take place in different areas. These are advertised at the main reception.

ACCESS...

Large print information boards and state of the art touch-screen terminals provide fascinating information on the species exhibited.

The Seal Cove can be accessed fully by wheelchair users. Reserved seating is available.

FIRST AID...

A First Aider is always on duty when the site is open to guests, and additional staff trained in first aid are located throughout the site. If first aid assistance is required contact the nearest member of staff who will be able to call up first aid on your behalf. Alternatively for minor problems go directly to reception and await for assistance.
Kindly note: First Aid staff are unable to dispense pills, potions or sprays.

LOST CHILDREN...

If any children become separated from their group / party, then our lost children point is the main reception.

Anyone who has realised that a member of their party has been separated from them should report it immediately to a member of staff who will inform their supervisor to alert all staff on site.
